I think one of the best things about being a creative is being able to take a story from your own life or a situation you have found yourself in and turn it into a brilliant piece of art or music. This is something I believe Eleanor has done with this release and has done very well.
The song has such a smooth groove to it straight from the off with the drums setting the foundations. The guitar and bass sit on top of the drums so well, filling the space with a bit of zest while the vocals are able to just float above them effortlessly to tell the story.
It can get a bit much when songs are full of instruments that are fighting for their own space or trying to outshine each other. In Keeping face however, every part has and knows its place within the song which makes it so easy to listen to and enjoy.
The short synchronised stabs with the vocals to drive the hook home are a brilliant idea, as well as the flare of the bass and keys in the last chorus to subtly show off the skill of the people behind the instruments. It's a really clever and nice way to add a bit of flare for the final chorus in the song.
I do love how each section of the song is clearly noted with a different melodic motif but they all seamlessly blend into each other without any abrupt changes. This keeps the song in such a nice flow from start to finish.
This is such a well written song lyrically and melodically and definitely makes a strong foundation for Eleanor’s future releases. I’ll be keeping my ears to the ground hungry to hear more
Big fan of Eleanor and her music and so so glad to see she is back and releasing music after a spell away from the music scene.
What a way to step back into the light!
