Tvliya has such a beautifully haunting voice that dances around the edge of your ear. There is this soft breathless quality that almost sounds like she sings in a permanent whisper which is really intriguing from the get go.

The thing that struck me about nine is that it is so independent in style and very much feels like a collaboration of genres. With an ambient base covered in a jazzy sauce and topped with essence of Caroline Polachek meets Kimbra. This really is a truly delicious combination.

As we travel into the chorus the addition of the soft thump of a kick drum really does so much, adding to the progression of the song beautifully. Each part feels thought out and deliberate. It’s so great to see someone being experimental with their musical arrangements and not being afraid to go against what some would consider the more traditional route a song should take.

Her lyrics are just as subtle as her voice as she invites you in closer to listen more intentionally to what she’s saying. Her message of fighting through a nine to five and dreaming of nine lives to try and achieve her dreams is so easily relatable for most people especially independent musicians so this definitely resonated with me. There are so many hidden elements inside this song from the writing to the performance and the arrangement that every time I listen to it I hear more and more which is not an easy feat for a musician or producer to achieve.

This then leads me on to point out that this track was recorded in a home studio with her friend Julian Mulhall. Both should be extremely proud of this song and the other two on her Spotify profile as they are incredibly well done considering their recording limitations of a blanket fort vocal booth. It goes to show that true talent thrives to show in any circumstances and that you don't need a multi million pound recording studio to create an amazing piece of music to a high quality.
